Cookie Dough fund-raising packets went home with your student today. Although students just completed a fund-raiser for the school, this particular fund-raiser specifically helps individual fourth grade students pay for field trips. The Hoover Dam field trip in April will be completely free to all fourth graders thanks to our first movie night; however, several other trips will be offered to students such as the Carson City overnight and the Pahrump/Ash Meadows overnight (more details coming soon). As these trips require transportation and a hotel stay, they are more expensive. To help fund one of these trips, students can apply 40% of their sales to the price. Please try to take advantage of this - in the past, students have paid for up to two thirds of the cost of the trip. Please check your child's packet for more information about the fundraiser.
Student progress reports will be sent home this Friday. Please review your child's current grades, sign, and return on Monday. Nate Mack is trying to collect information about the number of students that walk/ride bikes to school - a survey was sent home with your student today. Please fill out this survey (even if your child does not walk or ride a bike to school) and send back to school as soon as possible. Students that bring back their forms will receive a special pencil. Turkey Trot is just around the corner! Information will be sent home with your student on Thursday. Please have your child return any donations to the front office. The first AR party will be held next Tuesday - students need 30 AR points to attend. Here are a few classroom topics to ask your child about: Math: How did you do on your Place Value: Power of Ten quiz? How do you write a number in expanded form? Have you logged on to ST Math lately? Reading: Have you taken an AR quiz on your book from novel group? Explain what "theme" means. Writing: What science topics have you seen in your science textbook? What are Cornell notes?
