Since the start of the school year, students have been completing beginning of the year assessments that will be used to drive instruction. In math, students completed a computation assessment while fluency assessments are being given during reading. Starting next week, students will complete the first Discovery Education assessments in both reading and math. The results of these assessments will be sent home October 3rd. Please keep in mind these assessments are not graded, but used to help us guide our instruction.
Differentiated Instruction began today during homeroom time; based on 3rd grade CRT scores, students have been placed into different study groups (comprehension, language, or math) to receive more focused instruction. These groups will change with student need/ability.
In math, students have been learning all about Geometry, Students have learned to identify and draw geometric figures, and are learning how to identify these symbols in different shapes. Check your students math journal for helpful notes to assist with homework. Our first math test will be in the middle of next week. For extra online practice, click here: http://hintonsclass.weebly.com/geometry.html and work on the first two geometry standards.
Math homework is to be completed out the textbook tonight. These books were checked out to students last week and can stay at home; please have students complete the problems in their homework journal (the journal should return to school everyday).
On-line homework will begin tomorrow. Students can access their assignments through ScootPad and it should be completed the same day it is assigned; however, students that needed to make special arrangements to access the Internet will have more time.
Please note that 3 missing homework assinments a week will result in a citation.
4th grade is continuing to fund raise for our Southern Nevada field trips - we will be selling ice cream and other treats at the snack shack after school.
Please e-mail any of the fourth grade teachers will questions or comments.
Have a great week!
